POSITION SUMMARY:

The Accounting Director serves as the Chief Financial/Fiscal Officer and Office Manager of the Inter-Tribal Council, Inc. and assists the Board of Directors in administrative matters and management of social service programs and projects of the Inter-Tribal Council, Inc. The Accounting Director oversees and provides support of all aspects of the accounting and payroll processes and provides general office management and records as well as managerial support to program directors to ensure compliance with program guidelines and applicable statutory and governing regulations. The Accounting Director maintains all financial and employment records and works closely with the President and other Board members as needed. In addition is the ability to develop and maintain liaisons with local, state, and federal agencies in procurement of grants and funding. Responsible for providing overall program performance reports to the Board of Directors at regularly scheduled board meetings and otherwise at their request as needed. Consults with ITC Officers in complex situations and oversees those matters as well as maintenance of office and property.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Keeps complete set of records of financial transactions for all programs and funding sources within Inter-Tribal Council, Inc.
  • Prepares and submits reports to Program Directors, Funding Agencies, Tax Authorities and Board of Directors in a timely manner.
  • Maintains confidential payroll records. Oversees and processes payroll monthly to stay abreast of any required changes.
  • Oversees the day-to-day tasks of organizational administration including certain executive tasks delegated by the Board of Directors.
  • Coordinates meetings with elected officials.
  • Works closely with Program Team Leads to ensure fiscal compliance.
  • Oversees timely submission of program reports, financial and activity reports as required for contracts, grants, and cooperative agreements.
  • Oversees preparation and submission of proposals authorized by the Board of Directors to governmental and private funding agencies by required due dates.
  • Responsible for the monthly verbal business reports to the Board of Directors.
  • Maintains all personnel records.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or equivalent experience.
  • Basic understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Experience with MIP Fund Accounting software (Payroll/Accounts Payable) preferred.
  • Demonstrated competence in procurement, administration and management of federal programs and grants.
  • Comprehensive knowledge in administering federal programs according to agency guidelines, as well as proficient verbal and written communication skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
