Position Overview: This position is responsible for supporting processes and projects within the accounting and finance departments at Franchise Group. Candidates will have the opportunity to experience the full year-end reporting cycle, including accounting month-end close, financial reporting, and financial planning and analysis.
Franchise Group is an owner and operator of franchised and franchisable businesses that continually looks to grow its portfolio of brands while utilizing its operating and capital allocation philosophy to generate strong cash flow for its shareholders. Franchise Group’s business lines include Pet Supplies Plus, American Freight, The Vitamin Shoppe, Badcock Home Furniture & more, Buddy’s Home Furnishings and Sylvan Learning. On a combined basis, Franchise Group currently operates over 3,000 locations predominantly located in the U.S. that are either Company-run or operated pursuant to franchising and dealer agreements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a basic understanding of the company’s processes, procedures, and systems
- Assist accounting and finance departments with month-end close tasks and financial reporting
- Preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations
- Completion of workpapers to assist in year-end audit
- Other tasks in support of the accounting and finance functions
Expectations:
- Minimal job-related experience
- Basic skills to understand and perform routine tasks
- Works well with close supervision or under clearly defined procedures
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word)
Minimum Qualifications and Skills:
- Currently maintains a 3.0 GPA minimum
- Candidate must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance in a junior/senior or post-graduate standing
- Plans to pursue the Certified Public Accounting designation are strongly encouraged for accounting majors, exam eligible by May 2024
Additional Skills:
- Candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong attention to detail. This position requires the individual to work with and maintain confidential information. The candidate must work collaboratively with other associates, take initiative, solve problems, and meet deadlines while managing multiple projects.
