ACCOUNTING MANAGER
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
This position will manage the accounting staff responsible for the accuracy of the monthly financial statements along with regional management reports. Specific responsibilities will include managing the month-end close process and completion of general ledger account reconciliations, ensuring the integrity of general ledger balances, overseeing the production and review of financial statements, managing and developing the accounting staff.
Specific Responsibilities of this Position Include:
Managing the monthly general ledger close
Manage and oversee the field revenue accounting process
Review of journal entries and account reconciliations
Ensure proper cut-off and accounting for all accounts
Oversee the preparation of financial statements and schedules for internal reporting
Compilation and review of schedules to be used by outside auditors in their reviews and year-end audit
Establish, implement and document policies and procedures
Work with various departments to review compliance or coordinate accounting matters with other departments and locations as necessary
Provide monthly variance to forecast and budget analysis
Develop staff and provide effective coaching
Key contributor on various projects as needed
Manage and participate in the annual budget process as required
Manage and ensure accuracy of monthly financial load into UK Hyperion data base
Manage and ensure accuracy of intercompany reporting and monthly netting settlements
Manage the unclaimed property reporting process
Qualifications
Qualifications and Skills:
Strong commitment to providing excellence in client service and a demonstrated ability of producing high quality results
Strong interpersonal skills are required and must have demonstrated the ability to supervise less experienced personnel
Technical accounting knowledge
Proficient in the use of MS Excel, Work and Power Point
Ability to work with internal clients in a proactive manner to strengthen the control environment
8 - 12 years accounting experience
Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) in Accounting from accredited four-year college or university
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Ability to work independently from general supervision
Preferred:
Professional certification (CPA or CMA) is preferred.
Proficient in the use of Oracle and Blackline
Relationships:
This position reports to the Director of Accounting
