The Residential Services Activities & Community Based Coordinator expected to be a master multi-tasker with excellent communication skills, social skills, and an upbeat professional attitude. The Residential Services Activities & Community Based Coordinator duties and responsibilities are to ensure all Linwood's residents participate in structured activities in their homes and in the community on a consistent basis. This includes providing meaningful leisure activities to all residents under the supervision of the Residential Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides planned and structured activities to meet the residents' needs and comply with State Agencies.
  • Complies with Linwood's policies and procedures
  • Responsible for all activities, programming, and events coordination for all residential homes.
  • Coordination of administrative oversight of residential classes, clubs, volunteering, and community engagement.
  • Implementing, managing, and monitoring all residential activities in the home and in the community.
  • Developing events for all residents and families
  • Managing all invoices and billing related to activities
  • Organizing holiday events
  • Location, schedule, and duration of each activity/program will be determined as appropriate
  • Develop, coordinate, and execute activities for various adaptive and inclusive programs geared towards all residential children and adults.
  • Creatively adapt and individualize activities to the specific needs of participants
  • Maintain behavior protocols when necessary
  • Open and close the program area (including set-up and clean-up)
  • Compile and maintain record-keeping related to each activity and community outing.
  • Maintain attendance and participant progress reports
  • Communicate effectively with all residents and staff
  • Effectively communicate participant progress to supervisors and parents
  • Provides photographs and communication for newsletters, and social media updates
  • Manages individual budgeted activities expenditures
  • Ordering supplies as needed for activities and outings

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills):

  • Associate's Degree
  • Energetic and Enthusiastic
  • Motivated by Linwood's Mission
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with individuals with autism and planning activities.
  • Current certification in First Aid and CPR (child and adult), or able to become so certified prior to the start of a program (current certifications must be maintained throughout employment)
  • Knowledge of adaptive and inclusive recreational programs, activities, and practices
  • Knowledge and understanding of behavior management strategies and ability to enforce behavior management strategies when necessary
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals with autism
  • Ability to work well with large and small groups
  • Ability to effectively lead and supervise large groups in recreational activities
  • Positive attitude of enthusiasm and commitment in providing recreation opportunities for individuals with disabilities
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working/teaching relationships with co-workers, participants and their family members
  • Knowledge of instructional procedures and practices; growth and development of individuals of different ages and abilities; varying types of disabilities and medical conditions; standards and best practices; school personnel and the general public
  • CMT Certified
  • Experience providing inclusive activities, adaptive activities, implementing behavior management supports/interventions, and documenting behaviors, and communicating with parents

Physical demands or working conditions described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Physical requirements include the ability to move/travel over program-related terrain in indoor and outdoor areas; lift up to 50 lbs.;to lead and participate in activities as described above; and to load, unload and set-up recreational equipment.

Salary: $20-$21/hour
