We are searching for an energetic, outgoing and a creative Full-time Activity Assistant to join our team! The Activities Assistant works along side the Activities Director helping to create, plan and facilitate activities for our primary geriatric population.
Minimum Eligibility Requirements:
Minimum of one year of experience working with residents in long-term care.
At least minimal experience in planning and directing activities for elderly residents, and in planning and organizing special programs for residents, families and staff.
Good verbal communication skills, including ability to give directions to others in a manner that is pleasant and easily understood.
Ability to display enthusiasm and a positive attitude in promoting activities, and in enlisting the support of facility team members for activity programming.
Essential Functions:
The Activity Assistant assists with planning and providing activities for residents. The Activity Assistant supports the efforts of the Activity Director in assessing residents’ interests, needs, and abilities, and providing quality activity programming both inside and outside of the community. They are responsible for encouraging the participation and socialization of residents and volunteers. This position reports to the Activity Director and is part of the Life Enrichment team. The Activity Assistant works with enthusiasm to enhance our residents’ quality of life by addressing the residents’ social, physical, and mental health. The Activities Assistant is responsible for daily assessments, planning, setting up and implementing group and individual leisure and recreational activities. The activity assistant will be responsible for one-on-one therapeutic interventions to meet the patients and residents goals/needs. The Activities Assistant may also carry out other duties assigned by the Director.
Assist Activity Director in planning and providing activities that support and maintain the residents’ quality of life, and that meet state requirements for addressing the residents’ social, physical, spiritual and mental health.
Plans, coordinates and implements active and passive activities
Provides supportive activities in a comfortable environment to residents who are not able to tolerate stimulation of a group program.
Assist Activity Director in creating displaying and distributing a monthly Activity Calendar that is both informative and attractive.
Assists the Activity Director in maintaining an updated social history file on each resident.
Meets all new residents and families upon arrival, informing them of the activity program and encouraging participation.
Coordinates with the Dietary Department regarding food-related needs.
Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment and submits monthly list of the Activity Director
Full time position Monday-Friday with benefits. Must be available evenings and available to rotate Saturdays as needed for schedule rotation.
