Catalog Course Description
The aesthetics of the film are presented in this course. In order to provide students with an enriched experience in film viewing, emphasis is on techniques used by a director. Students view and discuss selected films. Pre and/or Corequisite: ENG 101
Summary
SUNY Ulster is currently accepting applications for part-time teaching assignments in Communication & Media Arts, specifically COM 209 Art of the Film for the spring 2023 semester. Also accepting applications to establish a pool for future teaching assignments in media and film.
Position Definition
Under the general supervision of the Program Coordinator, the adjunct instructor will provide instruction in Art of the Film.
Film students learn through screenings, readings, class critiques, assignments, a midterm and a final exam. Candidates should meet the minimum job requirements as specified below and be willing to teach in a variety of formats (classroom, online, hybrid). Currently working filmmakers, film and media specialists, designers and concept artists are highly desirable.
Minimum Qualifications:
● Master's Degree in Fine Arts (MFA) in related field or equivalent experience preferred
● Demonstrated commitment to active learning and innovative teaching
● Computer Program/LMS proficiency required
● Strong interest in teaching, mentoring, and working with community college students
● The ability to develop course assignments and a course outline around a pre established curriculum
● Effective interpersonal, communication, and technology skills
And

Preferred Qualifications:
● Actively working in the desired field of study.
● Evidence of successful teaching at the college or university level.
● Familiarity with the Blackboard Learning Management System.
