Job Description


Print documentation from the Fayette County Prosecutor’s Office (Karpel) for Presentence Investigations (PSI’s) i.e. police reports, BCI lab reports, victim impact statements, etc.

~Administer (female only) urine drug screens when ordered by the Judge as a condition of bond or as a condition of community control.

~ Advise defendants of general conditions and requirements while out on Bond at their Arraignment, referred to as Pre-Trial Services. Ensure proper paperwork is executed by the defendant at his/her arraignment, i.e. financial affidavit and pre-trial services cover sheet. Monitor Pre-Trial Services voicemail and report compliance or non-compliance when requested by the Court. Additional bond requirements may be ordered by the Judge and it is the Probation Department’s responsibility to arrange and monitor those requirements.

~ Schedule PSI interviews with the Probation Department’s schedule, unless otherwise waived by the prosecutor, defense counsel, and Judge. Schedule any other assessment/appointment ordered or recommended by the Court.

~ Submit Bureau of Justice Statistics Survey- Annually.

~ Make treatment referrals when deemed necessary (In-patient or out-patient). Adult Probation Staff may use his/her own discretion unless otherwise ordered to a specific program by the Court.

~ Obtain CCH’s from Fayette County Sheriff’s Department & Record Checks from Municipal Court as needed for PSI Interviews.

~ Inform, explain, and advise probationers of the terms and conditions of community control and any specific requirements ordered by the Court.

~ Maintain a current & up to date list with Fayette County Child Support- monitor child support payments on the offenders we supervise

~ Monitor offender compliance and participation in Court ordered and/or Probation mandated programming.

~ Process & Deposit money orders from probationers who are ordered to pay supervision fees.

~ Update and maintain probationer case files and record case notes in the Court’s case management system (Henschen’s) to monitor offender compliance/noncompliance.

~ Conduct field investigations at offenders’ residences, place of employment, etc.

~ Generate and prepare Affidavits of Community Control Violations in order to issue active arrest warrants.

~ Execute arrest warrants as ordered by the Court for those who have violated the terms and conditions set forth by the Common Pleas Court and/or Adult Probation Department.

~ Report status of noncompliance and any violations to the Judge and other Court departments as required upon the offender’s arrest.

~ Attend probation violation court hearings with the necessary documentation to present the facts of the offenders violating behavior to the Court. Testify as needed.

~ Establish and maintain professional relationships with service providers in order to make the exchange of information, referrals, etc. a quick and easy process for all parties involved. i.e. Fayette Recovery Center, MonDay Community Correctional Facility, Fayette Women’s Residential, Pickaway Men’s Residential, Pickaway Area Recovery Services, Friel & Associates, Fayette County Sheriff’s Department/ Jail, etc.

~ Attend monthly meetings at Fayette Recovery Center, our local and most used out-patient drug, alcohol, and mental health provider, to discuss offender participation, compliance, and progress, or lack thereof.

~ Maintain and foster a professional and positive work environment in the Probation Office and Courtroom.

~ Attend staff meetings as requested by the Judge or Court Administrator.

~ Participate in regular training programs as recommended by the Court Administrator or otherwise required by the state of Ohio.

~ Maintain all certifications as needed, i.e. Notary Public, Taser, etc.

~ Assist in the Investigation process involving the Sealing of Offender Records.

~ Be prepared, equipped, and available to mediate outbursts with probationers, and at times, the general public, when those individuals are under duress. Be prepared and equipped to answer general questions related to probation and basic court matters.

~ Perform other functions as designated or deemed necessary by the Judge of Court Administrator.

Hours
: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday. One-hour Lunch (unpaid) –

12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Lunch time may vary, depending on Court/Office schedule.
