This position may be stationed in the Milwaukee or Waukesha Office based on office availability and candidate preference. Position Summary
The position is in the Environmental Analysis and Sustainability (EAS) program and has the broad responsibility for implementing transportation liaison and environmental analysis work activities in assigned counties. This position provides integrated project management and coordination on the following tasks: transportation project reviews; Wisconsin and National Environmental Policy Acts (WEPA and NEPA) analysis; and coordination of environmental document reviews for major state and federal actions. This position is delegated authority to serve as a liaison for state and local transportation project reviews. This position will routinely coordinate with the supervisor, other regional program staff, Central Office staff, and other Department experts as needed. This position also requires substantial contact with various units of local, state, and federal government, professional consultants, contractors, and the general public.

Salary Information
Starting pay is $26 - $36/hour for this position ($54,080 - $74,880 annually). Pay on appointment for current or former state employees is based on the State Compensation Plan.
This position is in Pay Schedule / Range 15-03. A 12-month probationary period may be required.
Job Details
This position is responsible for environmental analysis and transportation liaison activities within assigned counties. Travel of less than 250 miles per day may be required several times per week to attend meetings and conduct field work. Long distance travel with overnight stays is required 1-2 times per year. Work hours are typically a normal office 5 day/40 hour schedule, with adjustment if needed for emergency or special arrangement.
Employment will require selected candidate to pass a background check. DNR does not sponsor work visas, thus, in compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

Qualifications

Required qualifications for this position include experience in all of the following:
- Assessing short and long-term project impacts on water resources (waterways, wetlands, surface and ground water), highlighting any experience with assessing roadway projects for water resource impacts.
- Served as project coordinator assessing proposed projects for environmental impacts. (e.g. applicant is the primary contributor to the assessment, seeks input from natural resource experts or outside agencies, summarizes issues and identifies potential solutions).
Best-qualified applicants will also have the following preferred qualifications:
- Experience evaluating impacts on water resources from proposed linear projects (e.g. transportation, electric transmission lines, pipelines, other utilities).
- Experience evaluating storm water and erosion control best management practices on construction projects.
