B. Riley Advisory Services Inventory Group is seeking a full-time Associate to work based out of one of our offices in Needham, MA, Chicago, IL, Westlake CA, or a potential opportunity for a remote candidate. Our offices are currently operating on a hybrid in-office/work-from-home setup.
This position will manage the timely, accurate and high-quality completion of multiple inventory appraisals per month. Frequently communicates complex information and interacts with company management. Provides excellent customer service to clients and internal team members. Regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment in management of projects. Duties have a significant financial impact of potentially hundreds of millions of dollars on client companies and lending institutions, as well materially impact the profitability of the appraisal group.
Duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
- Manage all aspects of an average of 2-3 appraisal projects per month utilizing B. Riley’s appraisal processes.
- Request, receive, and review subject company sales, gross margin, inventory and operating expense performance information. Follow up on all open items with the subject company to ensure compliance.
- Enter data and prepare all inventory and financial analysis into appraisal financial models.
- Effectively sets priorities and works in an organized manner while managing multiple moving deadlines
- Builds, maintains and manages effective relationships and communication with our client companies and clients throughout the appraisal process
- Ensures internal communication with the project team is effective and consistent throughout the process, keeping all members up to date
- Review analysis to ensure adherence to B. Riley quality standards and policies.
- Performs management interviews and site visits as needed; travel could represent 20% -25% per month
- Learn and adhere to current USPAP guidelines for all appraisal engagements
- Develops liquidation strategy and initial appraisal values, which are crucial to the well-being and profitability of B. Riley and its clients
- Obtains sign-off of values from senior members of management and the liquidation group
- Participate in client meetings/report deliveries as needed.
Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, with a concentration in Finance or Economics preferred
- Experience in retail merchandise planning buying, wholesale or manufacturing background a plus and translates well to this position as we teach our proprietary modeling.
- A minimum of three years’ experience in financial services, inventory management, auditing or consulting or demonstrated ability to produce high quality financial analysis and perform deal management duties.
- Advanced knowledge of Income Statements, Balance Sheets and relevant accounting terms
- Detail-oriented, able to effectively manage time, strong planning skills, and excellent analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
- Excellent knowledge of MS Excel operations
- Valid driver’s license
- Demonstrated strong computer skills to include, Microsoft Office applications, as well as other office software products in a Windows environment
