Title: Advocate Specialist
Location: Piscataway, NJ
Schedule: Friday and Saturday 2pm-7pm
Advocate Specialist work in the mental health crisis unit on the grounds of the assigned hospital and is responsible for engaging and providing peer support and advocacy to individuals waiting for a psychiatric evaluation. Advocate Specialist is trained in wellness and recovery and in hospital procedures, serving to provide transparent feedback and information to people in the Emergency Department waiting for a psychiatric evaluation.
Requirements:- High School Diploma or equivalent and experience providing peer support.
- Individuals with lived experience from acute care environment and who are in recovery is highly desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal skills, strong assessment skills and organizational skills are a must.
- Ability to manage crisis; strong computer skills are required.
- Valid drivers’ license and acceptable driving record required.
- Wellness and Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) training is preferred.
- Individuals in recovery are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Must be able to clear hospital pre-employment screening including drug testing.
- Employees must obtain their first dose of the primary series of a COVID-19 vaccination by their start date
