AgriSompo is seeking multiple DevOps Engineers to maintain and enhance our custom-built crop insurance application. The system, called AgriNet, is considered one of the leading crop insurance applications in the industry. It supports all of the insurance functions including policy administration, quoting/rating, GIS mapping of cropland, claims, accounting, reporting and transmission of data to the U.S. Government. We have approximately 3,000 Agents and 900 employees using the system to support approximately 80k policy holders and 90m acres of farmland.
The DevOps Engineer will have broad full-stack software engineering & operations experience with demonstrated experience in establishing software release automation, continuous integration, continuous delivery, resiliency, and monitoring solutions for building and migrating complex solutions to private or public cloud platforms. The DevOps Engineer will assess existing technologies, implement the design of future state, and execute the transition to the DevOps operating model.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and build DevOps processes and procedures around large-scale SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Microsoft .NET, and Node.js centric applications around cloud deployments
- Design build plans, assist developers with failures and manage software configurations
- Ensure end-to-end automated testing and continuous deployments succeed
- Debug production outages and take actions resulting from root cause analysis
- Monitor production environment and act to keep systems stable and running
- Provide off-hour support when needed to troubleshoot problems with mission-critical applications
- Mentor and guide more junior colleagues
Qualifications Include:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or similar
- Minimum of 2 years of DevOps experience or 5+ years as a software engineer using DevOps principles
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with Linux administration, Windows administration, and IIS management
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure and/or on premise server infrastructure
- Hands-on Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery technology experience
- Experience working with automation tools
- Proficient in: Bash, Chef, Powershell, Python, XML, Web concepts such as REST APIs and SPA
- Prior work with Kubernetes (EKS), Docker, Helm, RDS, Postgres, MySQL, Redis, ElasticSearch, microservices, message queues and related technologies
- Demonstrated fundamental understanding of modern platform technologies and industry standard methodologies
- Knowledge of multiple monitoring tools and how to mine them for operational reporting
- Deep understanding of SQL and Database Administration (SQL Server, Postgres, Oracle, etc)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with keen attention to detail and accuracy Experience in application development tools (e.g. GIT, Visual Studio/Azure DevOps and source control), testing, and process and configuration management
- Effectively communicates and documents technical architecture and solutions to internal peer groups as well as other groups
- A team player with solid communication skills, excellent at problem solving, troubleshooting, and embracing new challenges
- Positive attitude and the ability to remain flexible in a dynamic environment
- Ability to manage time across multiple, simultaneous projects
- Must demonstrate the ability to work effectively as a member of a team, as well as the maturity to work independently.
