Job description

Senior actuarial analyst will join a global team supporting modelling, commercial fund portfolio underwriting, pricing and reporting functions for a specialist agriculture insurance company in the US. He/she will report to Drew Remington in the Actuarial & Analytics department.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • In partnership with the global actuarial and analytics teams, develop and implement SRA funding, premium rating and risk models for the US book.
  • Produce reports to support the management of local and global entities.
  • Support local management in underwriting decision making and executing corporate strategy.
  • Design new product pricing structures and rate filings for private products.
  • Performs actuarial tasks which are of a mathematical and quantitative nature.
  • Develops statistical models based on analysis of internal/external data and other pertinent information.
  • Participates in discussions with departments to develop requirements and clarify customer expectations.
  • Acquires and manipulates data to create clean, comprehensive datasets suitable for predictive modeling.
  • Creates visualizations to facilitate communication of analytics insights to end users and non-technical audiences.
  • Assists analytics team with developing implementation plan, testing, and training.
  • Builds working knowledge of company operations, systems, and actuarial methodologies.
  • Support development and application of satellite yield forecast models for reserving and claims management

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent. Field of Study: Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline.
  • Must be progressing towards Associateship or Fellowship in the Casualty Actuarial Society, with a minimum of 2 exams passed. Open to ACAS or FCAS candidates.
  • Must possess strong technical ability and good interpersonal/organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with generalized linear models and simulation desired.
  • Knowledge of MS Office, R and SQL.
  • Fluent in English

Physical Requirements & Work Conditions

Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.

Ability to stand or sit constantly/continuously.

Hearing. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.

The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
