Air Refueling Tanker Coordinator:

Job Description: This position supports tasking at the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) for VX-23 in Patuxent River, MD. The selected candidate will serve as the air refueling tanker coordinator for VX-23 flight test programs. The individual will provide direct liaison for all tanker and C-130 logistical support for VX-23. The selected applicant will coordinate, schedule and direct aerial refueling operations from VX-20, USMC, USAF Air Refueling Wings and commercial air refueling tanker assets.

Responsibilities and Skills:

Scheduling:

• Coordinate with project schedulers to identify schedule, resource, and mission requirements and communicate that to supporting tanker squadron/organization for support.
• Coordinate/communicate real-time schedule changes between VX-20 and VX-23 to maximize tanker efficiency to VX-23 missions.
• Knowledge of aircraft scheduling considerations to adequately coordinate support for airborne aerial refueling needs.
• Ability to effectively coordinate VX-23 squadron tanking requests and ensure adequate aircraft and aircrew support.
• Ability to independently gather aircraft tanker/availability from supporting squadron(s)/ organizations and utilize data to adjust schedule and resources to minimize operational impacts to VX-23 missions.
• Develop daily and weekly schedules for tanker support.

Air Dispatch/Coordination:

• Communicate real-time changes to the plan with test teams and air assets.
• Maintain radio/phone communications with the test team regarding real-time changes and required adjustments.
• Relay mission updates and requests to tanker crew via the radio.
• Receive offload quantities from tanker at the end of the mission.
• Direct tanker to RTB when mission has completed.
• Debrief with receiver crew about tanker operations.
• Knowledge, experience, and ability to coordinate airborne assets for planning and real-time test missions.
• Knowledge of aircraft navigation/communication protocols.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with aircraft using a UHF/VHF radio(s) or other communication devices to coordinate air assets (aircraft dispatch type of experience).

Experience: Practical Air operations experience involving knowledge of administrative procedures, flight operations management, and aircrew functions. Familiarity with NAVAIR/NAWCAD structure and operations testing requirements highly desired. Experience with functionally managing the scheduling of aircraft and coordinating the movement of resources for meeting the requirements of flight schedules and experience with FIST.

Education/Training: High School Diploma or Equivalency Certification. Must hold a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) dispatcher license.

Citizenship/Security Clearance: Must be a U.S. Citizen and be eligible to obtain a SECRET security clearance.
