Alexander County YMCA Membership Experience Representative
Job description
Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Membership Experience and consistent with the Christian Mission of the YMCA, the Membership Services staff is directly responsible for building member relations, operations at the member service desk, proper phone etiquette and customer service at a high level.
Essential functions include:
- Create and develop positive member relations, encouraging member involvement.
- Answer phones in a friendly tone of voice.
- Politely assist all individual who approach the member services desk with the YMCA voice of welcoming, nurturing determined, hopeful and genuine.
- Provide tours of the facility.
- Provide up to date membership information and programs to all who inquire.
- Enforce YMCA guidelines and policies and handle challenges in a timely manner. Replenish membership information and make photocopies as needed.
- Perform computer registration / receipting.
- Accept payments from membership / program participants.
Schedule: Evenings 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, some Saturdays 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. Must be flexible.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 18 years of age or older
- Customer service experience required
- Computer skills and the ability to learn appropriate computer programs related to the position
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Outgoing personality and a desire to be helpful to others
- Must be able to stand for the majority of shift
- Current certification in CPR/First Aid/AED/Oxygen administration or obtain certification within 30 days of hire
- Other YMCA-required training and certifications, as applicable
