Job description
This position is a temporary work assignment (TWA).
Facilitators at Connections Academy provide academic and positive behavioral support to students in a secondary school setting. Assumes responsibility for all aspects of classroom behavioral management, student instructional support, and classroom level technical support. Works collaboratively with the students’ home school instructors to support student learning, implement lesson plans, provide differentiated strategies to support students, and administer assessments. Assists students in learning knowledge and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible citizens.

Demonstrates knowledge of general course content, course navigation, and learning management system (LMS) functionality within the online course.

Prepares for classes assigned and shows evidence of preparation upon request of the immediate supervisor.

Adapt instructional materials to meet students' varying needs, abilities, and interests.

Establishes and communicates clear objectives for all learning activities.

Observe and evaluate students' work to determine progress and make suggestions for improvement.

Administer assessments

Assists with technical troubleshooting as applicable for students to access the course content.

Provide effective classroom management; Creates a positive educational climate for students;

Develops and maintains the physical environment of the classroom that is conducive to effective learning within the limits of resources provided by the system.

Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.

When appropriate, communicates student progress and needs to students’ home schools

Facilitate goal setting and periodic evaluations

Communicate and enforce CCPS policies to students as outlined in the Code of Conduct;

Submit attendance and student assignment log as outlined on the staff calendar;

Check and respond to emails from stakeholders multiple times a day;

Monitor office mailboxes for less-timely information;

Use the inventory book to sign out instructional aids including classroom sets of books, laptops, workbooks, manipulatives, DVDs and calculators;

Demonstrates commitment to improving professional competence;

Collaborates with other faculty in planning and delivering instruction to students.

Communicates regularly with parents.

Ensures compliance with existing applicable federal and state statutes and local policies, regulations and guidelines related to public schools.

Performs other duties as required.
