The Analyst, Energy Markets will provide support for new market development for Generac Grid Services’ participation in wholesale markets and turnkey utility and partner offerings, including analysis and due diligence of new regional business opportunities and business model creation within North America. The Analyst, Energy Markets will support the business development process by understanding various market/utility DER participation rules and by assisting in the development of proposals in response to RFPs and the assessment of opportunities to take DERs directly into open energy markets. The candidate will be a reliable, dynamic, high-energy individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can multi-task effectively and contribute across many organizational functions. Attention to detail, effective communication skills, proven ability to work effectively across a team, demonstrated problem-solving ability, strong business acumen, a desire to learn, and a passion to help create a sustainable energy future are pre-requisites to success in this role.

Develop financial models that assess costs and benefits for a distributed energy resource program (for DERs including behind-the-meter battery storage, thermostats, electric vehicles, water heaters, and generators) providing grid services value in an ISO/RTO, competitive retailer, and/or utility program
Provide regular research support to build and maintain market and competitive knowledge across US and Canadian markets, including tracking of key regulatory proceedings and monitoring of general market activities of competitors and potential partners across the DER landscape
Assemble research and modeling materials into presentation-grade decks and proposals to support internal decision making and external customer/partner engagement and deal pursuit
Make presentations to senior leadership on research and analysis and contribute to client calls as an SME on program economics and select DER research topics
Collaborate across Generac Grid Services departments and other Generac business units to support opportunity identification and DER program development and management .

Minimal Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Business Management, Engineering or equivalent experience. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the energy industry. Willingness to travel 10-25% of time (and may vary)

Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience with Wholesale Energy Markets

Knowledge:
Broad knowledge and understanding of energy markets, utility policies, and state/federal energy regulations
Revenue Forecasting

Skills:
Excellent team player with ability to communicate clear objectives and collaborate with a matrixed team.
Advanced communication skills including business writing and oral presentation abilities.
Ability to work both independently and in collaborative teams.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Other graphic design, CRM, and project management tools a plus.
Ability to interface and effectively communicate with senior management including translating complex topics into easy to understand summaries.
Understanding or ability to develop a good understanding of financial and business concepts.
Good analytic skills. COMPENSATION Generac Grid Services is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this role based in Denver, Colorado is $60,000 - $81,000 USD. This compensation will ultimately be in line with the location in which the position is filled. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. This role is eligible for variable compensation including short term incentives that may consist of the following: annual incentive plan, sales incentive plan, sign-on bonus, and equity grants depending on the role and level.
