Position: IT Technician

Qualifications:

• Previous experience working with/repairing information technology equipment.

• High School diploma or equivalent with computer and electronic training required.

• A+ certified, MCSE Certification preferred, not required.

Essential Function:

• Physical ability to set up and take down equipment

• Ability to troubleshoot and repair technology hardware and software issues

• Ability to lift at significant weight – minimum of 1 pound up to 100 pounds

• Ability to climb ladders to run cabling as needed or troubleshoot security cameras

Reports To: Educational Technology Coordinator

Consults With: IT Staff, GCSD Administration and Faculty

Position Goal: To provide timely, cost-effective technical support throughout the school district.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoot, maintain and repair both networked and stand-alone computer systems. This includes software and hardware setup, installation, maintenance, diagnostics, replacement and upgrades.

• Assist with maintaining and troubleshooting Local Area and Wide Area Network

• Work with computer users to assess problems and provide timely solutions

• Provide technical support for all information technology equipment and other devices; make repairs when possible and recommend and/or arrange outside repairs when appropriate.

• Perform routine computer and network maintenance

• Establish and maintain user accounts on end user machines and labs for a secure network environment

• Document software licenses, warranties, maintenance, and repair on computer specification records

• Assist with computer inventory records, maintain an accurate inventory of spare technology parts and suggest supply orders

• Setup and configuration district PC’s for the DHCP network

• Communicate in a clear and professional manner, at the users’ various technical levels

• Have an understanding of all IT department procedures

• Perform other duties as assigned

Terms of Employment: Twelve-month position. Wage schedules shall be subject to annual review and modification by the Glenwood Board of Education.

Evaluations: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Classified Staff Evaluation.
