Section 1: Position Summary
The Application Engineer integrates Ascensus’s on-premises and cloud-applications together using available tools and APIs, helping to create seamless associate experiences across disparate platforms. This position is responsible for creating new integrations between platforms and automating engineering tasks. This position assumes the highest level of support for internal application issues in the Ascensus production environment. The role also evaluates alternative solutions, provides recommendations, and identifies risks associated with corporate applications.
Section 2: Job Functions, Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for protecting, securing, and proper handling of all confidential data held by Ascensus to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or our clients.
- Enhance associate experience by integrating technology systems, making sure corporate applications work together in scenarios such as onboarding, provisioning, and de-provisioning.
- Serve as the highest level of cloud and internal application support for identified issues.
- Enhance system performance through implementation of third-party solutions and review of internally developed applications.
- Coordinate and perform application implementation and maintenance during non-business hours.
- Evaluate new technologies to enhance performance and associate experience.
- Provide technical expertise and consulting to development and support teams.
- Review and optimize solution configurations.
- Develop plans to integrate new software components.
- Utilize scripting and simple programs to communicate between applications using REST APIs or provided SDKs.
- Assist in process definition, documentation, and continuous improvement in best practices.
- Develop and deliver internal training in selected relevant topics.

Section 3: Experience, Skills, Knowledge Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent job experience.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of professional IT experience in development, operations, or related fields.
- Strong knowledge and experience of Software as a Service (SaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS) applications and environments.
- Excellent consultative, verbal/written communication skills, analytical ability.
- Problem solving, initiative, and judgment.
- PowerShell or similar CLI/scripting experience.
- C#, Python, or other similar high-level language experience.
- Experience developing scripts and command line applications utilizing REST APIs.
- Microsoft 365, Office 365, and Azure.
- SQL Server or similar databases.
- Box.com.
- Microsoft .Net or .Net Core development.
