This position will report to the Sr. Manager of Unified Communications & Collaborations, and will provide application development and integration support for the PennFlex Phone enterprise voice service, and other UC (Unified Communications) services including Contact Center, E911, E-Fax and service security. The Application Specialist will develop software and scripts to accomplish various tasks including; monitoring systems and services; maintenance of existing UC services, integrating in-house and vendor services; evaluation of new network service technologies; & testing software and implementing feature release plans. The purpose of this position is to help to identify opportunities, increase the visibility and support for new and expanding IT collaboration services and to ensure services are managed reliably, efficiently and continue to support the mission and business needs of ISC and the University.

  • Develop, maintain, and support various software: full stack web applications, in-house API frameworks, in-house and 3rd party service integrations, Linux systems operation and management scripts, reporting and monitoring scripts, and UC media applications.
  • Execute the day-to-day development activities by participating in design review, script and application development, review and implementation.
  • Perform secure coding practices on database-driven, API, and/or network-based applications.
  • Responsible for monitoring and administering applications, services, and systems.
  • Provide third tier end-user support involving advanced troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with systems analysts, engineers, developers and other technical team member to design systems and understanding limitations, capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces of technical solutions.
  • Supports team efforts in the collaboration with ISC Technology Services colleagues to develop and implement UC service strategies and implementation plans to align with the rest of ISC’s goals and services.
Sr. Application Integration Specialist

  • Consult with customers or other departments on project status, proposals, or technical issues, such as software system design or maintenance.
  • Provide regular contact with UC venders on software and feature release planning, work with campus Local Support Providers and the central ISC Client Care team on rollouts of US ISC services
  • Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
Qualifications
Application Integration Specialist C
  • Bachelor of Science or related Engineering field and 2 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience with a minimum of 2 years of experience working with Software as a Service (SaaS) and web-based applications is required.
  • Strong software engineering skills and a basic understanding of IP networking concepts is required.
  • Must have proven track record in troubleshooting a wide variety of problems, sometimes with limited background knowledge.
  • Must have strong customer service focus and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of voice technology preferred.
  • Proficiency with Unix scripting is required.
  • Strong knowledge of working with remote Unix systems via SSH and developing applications on them via remote terminal or local IDE clients (preferably with RedHat).
  • Experience working with full stack applications (back-end & front-end development).
  • Strong foundation in software engineering using languages (preferably PHP, Perl, and Python) with database-driven & API-driven network applications.
  • Experience with web services and API using SOAP, REST, and custom network sockets programming.
  • Experience with front-end design using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and JQuery.
  • Proficiency with databases including running database clients, building SQL queries, and designing schema, (preferably with MySQL and/or Oracle).
  • Experience with scripting languages (UNIX/Linus Shell, Perl, Python, JavaScript, PHP etc.).
  • Working knowledge of the OSI model.
  • Working knowledge of core IP telephony protocols, such as SIP/SIPS signaling, RTP/SRTP, codecs, endpoint management, vulnerability assessment / remediation, and encryption is a plus.
  • Experience with multimedia design and engineering is a plus
  • Experience configuring and managing Unix systems where applications are deployed is a plus.
  • Proficiency with web servers for deploying and maintaining web apps and services using Apache, Tomcat, NGINX, and/or Node.js is a plus.
  • Experience with modern, responsive front-end platforms like Angular(JS) and React is a plus.
  • General experience with Voice over IP, or eFax solutions is a plus.
