AREA DIRECTOR OF SALES & MARKETING - IHG Branded / Savannah GA Market
Salary $65k - $80k Based on Experience
Position: Area Director of Sales & Marketing
Reports to: Director of Operations

Requirements:
- College or higher-level education
- Minimum 3 years of hotel industry sales experience with at least 1 year of multi-property experience or full-service hotel DOS experience
- Must be strong leader, self-motivator, team builder and relationship builder
- Must be willing and able to sign Opal’s non-disclosure and non-compete agreements
General Responsibilities:
- Ensure that each Opal hotel its maximizing revenue opportunities.
- Develop, implement/execute and monitor the annual Sales & Marketing plans for each of the Opal managed hotels.
- Support the development, implementation, and successful attainment of each Opal managed hotel’s annual Business Plan.
- Develop, maintain, and ensure compliance with Opal’s marketing policies and procedures.
- Lead, motivate, coach, train, support, manage Opal General Manager and/or Opal hotel sales team members, set goals and support the Director of Operations (“DO”) in holding the General Manager, Director of Revenue, and other team members accountable by providing appropriate feedback, rewards, and recognition.
- Coordinate Opal hotel sales team members to ensure there are clear assignments as to accounts, segments, competitors, or other market lead generators that are to be prospected and shared with all Opal managed hotels.
- Assist Opal hotel sales team members in lead generation, providing client service, maintaining client relationships, and closing deals.
- Support Opal hotel sales team members with large strategic accounts, RFPs, and annual and ongoing bidding and coordination.
- Represent Opal in the community (local Chamber of Commerce / Economic Development meetings) to promote visibility of Opal managed hotels and cultivate referral relationships in the community.
- Support the DO in holding General Managers effectively accountable for managing and motivating associates and achieving overall financial results, and guest and associate satisfaction through development and implementation of Opal hotel sales team Action Plans.
- Demonstrate a high level of integrity, take ownership of personal and team actions, communicate effectively, promote collaboration, nurture a positive, professional work environment, and ensure development of, and adherence to, Opal’s sales and marketing policies, protocols, and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Participate in the recruitment of Opal hotel sales team members.
Primary Functions:
- Actively participate on the Opal Strategic Planning Committee.
- Lead the process of developing, with the active participation of the Opal General Managers and the corporate team leaders, the annual Sales & Marketing Plan for each hotel.
- Actively participate in and support the process of developing the annual Business Plan for each hotel.
- Ensure implementation of Opal’s approved Sales & Marketing Plan for each hotel.
- Organize and implement Opal’s sales processes.
- Stay knowledgeable of and regularly evaluate all brand sales and marketing programs, make participation recommendations to the Opal hotels and track and publish results.
- Develop, implement, maintain, track, and regularly align Opal’s web marketing strategies and regularly publish data and outcomes.
- Develop, implement, maintain, track, and regularly align Opal’s third-party booking channels and sources strategies and regularly publish data and outcomes.
- Monitor revenue and operating results and compare revenue outcomes with budgets, other Opal managed hotels’ performances and with industry averages.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Send a daily end of the day activity and accomplishment email to Opal team leaders.
- Read daily Emails from Opal’s General Managers and email any responses as appropriate to the Opal DO with copies to corporate team leaders.
- Document all sales activities in hotel sales system so the appropriate scope of work can be clearly identified, and ROI analysis of time deployed by the hotels sales effort can be measured.
- Participate in direct day to day sales responsibilities, as necessary.
- Review daily flash reports, daily activities and performance outcomes and provide appropriate responses to the DO.
- Participate in and provide support to the corporate leadership team during monthly meetings of Department leaders and General Managers to review operations outcomes, progress and accountability.
- Ensure regular and timely performance reviews of all Opal corporate sales department associates, including the Revenue Managers, are conducted.
- Track Opal’s revenue performance standards for each hotel. Performance standards include:
- Brand & Opal Marketing program participation
- Market Share Indices (MSI)
- Daily, weekly, monthly revenues
- Brand & Opal Guest Satisfaction Indices (GSI)
- Conduct regular and timely performance reviews of the corporate Revenue Manager and other department team members.
