Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, Washington is recruiting a Certified Physician Assistant or ARNP to join our Colorectal Surgery team.

The Colon and Rectal Surgery Team is seeking a Certified Physician Assistant or ARNP to serve as a provider with our colon and rectal surgical patients. This is a procedure-heavy position that will offer the provider a great deal of autonomy and versatility across clinic, operating room, and procedural practice for a diverse population. OR time will be approximately twice per week. This provider will conduct anoscopy, proctoscopy and office-based perianal procedures as a key part of the position. The PA or ARNP will also be trained to provide High Resolution Anoscopy, which will allow for strong patient continuity over a patient's lifetime. Another focus of the position will be providing care for a panel of non-surgical patients, pre and post op patients. The provider will have the opportunity and support to attend key regional and national conferences, monthly city-wide, specialty-specific Journal Club and Tumor Boards. This is an excellent position for a provider who desires growth in their career and the ability to help build a program. Position highlights - Provider supports a team of three board-certified colorectal surgeons and one other PA providing tertiary care through office-based procedures, patient consults, pre and post-op appointments, HRA (High Resolution Anoscopy) and with surgery in the OR. - Breadth of patients ranging from conditions like cancer and inflammatory bowel disease to benign conditions like diverticulitis and common anorectal concerns. Unique opportunity to work with vulnerable populations at risk for cancer including HIV and LGBTQ. - Collaborative team that is on the forefront of research and supports several multidisciplinary conferences with focus on cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, and pelvic health.. Potential to get involved and/or present at tumor boards - Operative experience ranges from robotics, laparoscopy, anorectal and open surgery. - Position will allow provider to become officially trained and certified in the provision of HRA. Training is available. - Highly collaborative team with strong mentorship for the provider by board-certified colon and rectal surgeons. - Schedule is 4 10's with no call

Nurse Practitioner

Washington State Registered Nurse License and an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner License are required for this job. -

Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and National Provider Identifier (NPI) numbers may be required depending on the position, as well as prescriptive authority. -

Advanced background in nursing; an understanding of anatomy, physiology, histology, and pharmacology; and strong interpersonal and counseling skills. -

Certification by specialty area as well as work experience in specialty area may be required, depending on the position.

Physician Assistant Certified

This position requires Certification as a Physician Assistant with prescriptive authority in the State of Washington.

Team Details

The Colon and Rectal Surgical Team is made up of three surgeons, one PA and one Registered Nurse and is part of the larger General Surgery team, which consists of 19 surgeons and 2 NP's and 1 other PA.
