Assembly Planner (Battery Plant)
PURPOSE:
Under general supervision, define, launch, and continuously improve the processes of the battery plant in order to meet or exceed the shop’s safety, quality, efficiency, and cost targets in accord with the Company’s Production System.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure process integrity through implementation of Company’s Production System.
- Main point of contact for installation of Battery Production Equipment/Process in accordance with the company’s Global Battery standards.
- Coordinate and Install new processes to ensure the highest level of Team Member safety, production quality, and line throughput.
- Development of Process Work Instructions for Automated and Manual Processes.
- Lead equipment problem solving activities in cross functional groups to solve process/product/system failures.
- Plan and prepare for new product implementation and their impact on process, equipment, tooling, etc.
- Manage all trials and support changes, which may impact production safety, quality, efficiency or cost.
- Manage shop throughput by analyzing station cycle time, through-put, variant management, and Work in Process (WIP) standards.
- Assist in training for production leadership on new product/process changes.
- Manage and coordinate contractor activities, which include bid package preparation (scope of work, specifications, installation, buy-off and scheduling).
- Assist with arranging training for new technologies in conjunction with the overall battery plant strategy.
- Ensure proper level of self-sufficiency for multiple technologies in the battery plant through classroom and hands-on training.
- Review equipment and shop layout proposals/drawings for input to process capability and Company’s Production System.
- Continuously improve the performance of manned and automated stations in the battery plant.
- Central contact for function and buildup of battery production systems and engineering related questions.
- Plan and prepare new equipment/processes for PT Trials and Series Production.
- Ability to work around High Voltage Battery Systems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field of study OR the equivalent combination of education and/or years of relevant work experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience working in an Automated Assembly Environment in an engineering function.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Experience in ramp-up management in automotive assembly and/or EV-battery assembly.
- Ability to lead cross-functional problem-solving activities and work in a “startup” environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, communicate technical information on a regular basis.
- Working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook).
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- German language skill
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to, sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices.
FLSA STATUS/WORKING SCHEDULE:
- Salary, exempt.
- Good attendance and the ability to work a flexible schedule is essential for this position.
- Location: Battery Plant
- Schedule: Day Shift
- Core Hours: Monday – Friday / 7:00 am – 4:00 pm
- Weekly Overtime: Up to 5 hours / week
- Weekend Work: rare but possible
- Assignment Start: June
- Assignment End: 1 year w/ option to extend.
