Where you'll work:
Our hybrid workplace model offers the freedom to work fully remote or occasionally in one of our offices. This is a remote position with a hybrid option for candidates based in Charlotte, NC.

How you'll contribute:
As a Asset Modeling Consultant you'll support the projection of general account assets for regulatory, operational, risk management, and strategic purposes. As a key contributor within the Asset Projections group of Investments ALM, the individual will aid in the development of appropriate investment guidelines and strategies to maximize statutory distributable earnings. The individual will assist with the evaluation of modeled and actual results including asset/liability match, scenario valuations, ad hoc risk efforts supporting enterprise risk frameworks and subsequent reporting to numerous stakeholders including Appointed Actuaries, regulatory authorities, rating agencies, and the Senior Leadership Team.

In this role, you'll get to:
  • Maintain / operate asset modeling platform used for projecting Insurance Company general account assets
  • Extract, scrub, and load investment position data and security attributes from source systems to projection tools
  • Deliver accurate and efficient asset projections to internal business partners including Actuarial, Treasury, and Finance in support of regulatory testing, capital, valuation, pricing, and planning
  • Develop attribution reports to monitor asset projections identifying drivers of variance, reasonableness checks / reconciliations to ensure projection integrity
  • Automate / streamline processes to improve efficiency and enhance governance / controls
  • Assist with the evaluation / implementation of new asset projection systems including back-testing of results and integration with downstream processes
  • Partner and work collaboratively within the organization to help identify executable strategies that increase statutory distributable earnings while mitigating / vetting unintended consequences
  • Optimize results for cash flow testing, risk-based capital, loss recognition, and market related economic capital models. For example, partnering with Actuarial and selecting appropriate assets to support tests including notionally selecting cusips among portfolios to minimize capital needs.
  • Support Actuarial with investment yields used in calculation including interest credited rates, dividend rates, and rates used for sales illustration purposes. Help develop and provide appropriate reinvestment strategy for actuarial testing.
  • Calculate metrics, perform risk attribution, and conduct sensitivity analysis on the asset portfolios, including such metrics as yields, duration, convexity, key rate and partial duration
  • Perform other related analysis / activities as required

We're looking for people who have:
  • 3+ years of related asset modeling / strategic risk management experience in insurance / finance industry
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail a must
  • In-depth understanding of fixed income, derivatives, and alternative asset classes
  • Exposure to investment analytics / projections systems such as Aladdin, Bloomberg, BondEdge, etc
  • Advanced data and programming skills, preferably with Python and SQL
  • Effective written and oral communication skills; ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Ability to develop solutions to complex problems while balancing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Undergraduate degree in related discipline preferred, advanced degree and/or CFA/other industry designation a plus
