Job description
The Assistant Controller is responsible for business unit accounting duties for the J.D. Heiskell Idaho region including multiple dairy feed manufacturing/processing facilities with 50+ employees and P&L business unit autonomy.
Perform business unit accounting duties including:
- Inventory analysis and reconciliation
- Month-end journal entries
- Plant cost accounting
- Sales margin analysis
- Operating expense analysis
- Mark-to-market accounting
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
- Job reports to the Idaho Region Controller
- In person, office position based in Twin Falls, ID
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Accounting or related field required.- Prefer one to three years of related work experience in the agriculture industry, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of mark to market accounting, grain contracts, and GAAP/IFRS required.
- Experience with month end closing and reconciliation
- Understanding of sales margin, commodity pricing and operating expense analysis
- High level of Excel proficiency required.
- Knowledge of Agris preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Prolonged periods sitting/standing at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
