Position Summary Information

Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The offices within the Enrollment Division (Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Office of Scholarships and Student Aid (OSSA), the Office of the University Registrar, and the Carolina College Advising Corps) focus on increasing the enrollment of outstanding students from North Carolina and beyond, including students who strengthen diversity; meeting the full demonstrated financial need of all undergraduate students who qualify for federal aid; maintaining the integrity of the student record and academic and administrative processes; supporting student success; and providing great care to all who come our way. The work of the Enrollment Division is closely scrutinized by students and their families; by faculty, staff, students, and alumni; by secondary-school teachers and administrators; by lawmakers at the local, state, and national level; and by the media.

Position Summary
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.


Founded in 2007 at UNC-Chapel Hill, the Carolina College Advising Corps places recent UNC-Chapel Hill graduates many of them first-generation students themselves as college advisers in low-income high schools statewide. These advisers work in collaboration with school counselors, teachers, and administrators to increase college-going rates in the schools they serve. Advisers provide admissions and financial aid advising to students and their families through one-on-one and group sessions that help students identify colleges that will prove to be a good match for their talents, interests, and aspirations. They also help students complete admissions and financial-aid applications and enroll successfully at the schools they eventually choose.
This position assists in leading the Carolina College Advising Corps and reports to the Program Director. The position is a staff member of the Division of Enrollment Management.
This position will provide day-to-day support and mentoring of all Carolina College Advising Corps advisers; Provide day-to-day support of Carolina College Advising Corps partner high schools and school districts; Assist in the development and execution of the Advising Corps’ strategic plan, goals, and program initiatives and perform other duties assigned by the Program Director.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Demonstrated excellence in organizational and administrative skills; planning and evaluation skills; substantial knowledge and understanding of computer systems and software; problem-solving skills; and, excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent human relations skills are also necessary as well as a valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred. Two to three years of experience in admissions, college access, or a related field. Proficiency with MS-Office. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Experience with program and event planning. Experience supervising others is preferred. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Strong commitment to helping others and to providing outstanding, friendly service.
