Little City is seeking an Assistant Director to help lead our Children's residential program!
PURPOSE: The Assistant Director is directly responsible for the implementation of the daily operations of the ChildBridge Center for Group Home Living program. The Assistant Director ensures that staff are actively engaging youth to help them build skills and improve well-being while implementing defined structured programming. The Assistant Director additionally ensures all DHS, DCFS, and ISBE rules and regulations are followed; that home management documentation is complete and on file, youth activity planning occurs in a timely and comprehensive manner, homes are appropriately staffed to meet the needs of the youth served, and other programmatic administrative operational tasks are completed. The Assistant Director directly supervises the program’s Operations Specialists and Overnight Management Support Liaison and provides supervisory oversight of Home Managers and oversees the supervisory supports and personnel actions of all program Life Skill Instructors and Residential Behavior Specialist.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor’s degree in social work or Bachelor’s in a DCFS approved human services field and at least 2 years’ full-time experience in a residential childcare program required. In addition, five years of relevant experience working with children with developmental, behavioral, and/or emotional challenges, preferred. At least three years administrative and/or supervisory experience required. Knowledgeable of DCFS rules and procedures and DHS Medicaid Waiver, preferred. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The list of essential duties and responsibilities, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the task to be performed. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein is such duties are a logical assignment to the position.
1. Hire, supervise, train, mentor, advise role model and evaluate Operations Specialists, and assists the Director with Home Managers and the Life Skills Instructors/Residential Behavior Specialist they supervise with these duties.
2. Spearhead the implementation of a culture of caring for the program’s workforce through regular team check-in’s and relationship building including with direct care staff to ensure the team is receiving the needed supports to perform their duties, improving employee retention.
3. Ensure all onboarding processes for new employees are implemented, evaluating onboarding quality, and providing recommendations for improvement.
4. Develops systems to enable performance competency assessments of Life Skills Instructors.
5. Coordinates, and ensures implementation of the Program Active Engagement Schedule for the homes with the input of internal and external support teams. Ensures Active Engagement programming is implemented according to schedule and that children receive adequate supports in the milieu to be successful in participation.
6. Observe direct reports and provide regular supervision of them to review overall performance, administrative activities, and provide feedback. Evaluate performance of direct reports at minimum, annually. Assist Director with ensuring monthly supervision between Home Managers, Life Skills Instructors, and Residential Behavior Specialist is occurring and oversees quality of such supervision.
7. Assists with the coordination and appropriate staffing for youth services including medical, dental, psychiatrists, therapists, educational providers, or any other provider serving a youth. Collaborates with Centralized Scheduling Team regarding scheduling needs.
8. Collaborates with the Behavior Support Team and Case Management Supervisor in ensuring Home Managers, Life Skill Instructor, and Residential Behavior Specialist’s implementation of Behavior Plans and Individual Service Plans (Person Centered Plans).
9. Responsible for ensuring expenses within the homes are within budget, providing documentation when this cannot be feasibly accomplished, and developing a plan of action in such cases to minimize net loss. Reviews monthly budget requests, and approves all purchases in advance, reviews all receipts upon return of home program card.
10. Collaborates with transportation department to ensure van safety procedures are followed, vans are checked out and returned with keys according to schedule, and that all vans maintain cleanliness.
11. Assists in working with DCFS Licensing and other DCFS personnel in the homes. Cooperates with monitoring inquiries related to all program deficiencies; coordinates with other departments as needed to provide DCFS/DHS with necessary follow up information related to programmatic inquiries. Responsible for acting as a liaison for CARF, and DCFS/DHS audits.
12. Maintains a working knowledge of the Union Contract and operates within the contractual agreement.
13. Collaborates with Human Resources team to ensure adequate staffing, training compliance, and pursues HR input on issues related to egregious personnel matters. Maintains a working knowledge of Little City HR Policy and Procedure.
14. Ensures direct reports follow through on all shift documentation including, but not limited to, electronic case management logs, mileage logs, body checks, UIRS, behavior tracking sheets, annual dental, hearing and vision, MAR’s, and other necessary documentation.
15. Maintains a working knowledge of DHS Waiver and DCFS Rules and Procedures and ensures that information is relayed to staff.
16. Attends and participates in clinical or crisis staffings, as needed.
17. Protects the confidentiality of people served by the agency.
18. Maintains on-call coverage and crisis support 24/7 on a rotational basis with Director in conjunction with team members.
19. Assist with the creation and implementation of policy, procedure, and protocol related to the delivery of services to children living in the CGH program.
20. Review and approve Unusual Incident Reports/Significant Events, Physical Restraint Report, and reviews Outcome Management Report and utilize information to improve service delivery. Ensure follow up as necessary.
21. Successfully completes Little City Foundation required training, re-training, and any additional training as required by Little City Foundation policies and practices, or as assigned by his or her immediate supervisor.
22. Participates on committees and task forces as requested
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
