Job Title/Position: Assistant Director of Maintenance Department/School: Facilities & Support Services

Primary Purpose:

Directs, coordinates and monitors maintenance and grounds supervisors. Establishes work schedules and procedures to maintain a high standard of
safety and efficiency of building operations.

Qualifications (Experience/Education/Certification):

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university, or a minimum of 5 years’ experience in facilities management and supervision,
a valid Texas driver’s license, and able to qualify as a driver under the district’s insurance carrier when driving a district vehicle.

Major Responsibilities:

1. Manages and supervises maintenance, grounds, electrical, plumbing, HVAC supervisors and supporting staff and assists in all work areas
when/where needed.

2. Coordinates projects and job assignments with specific personnel pertaining to work orders, special athletic events, etc. and tracks work
order efficiencies through the work order system.

3. Coordinates and manages projects with contractors for electrical or minor reconstruction projects including parking lot resurfacing and gym
floor resurfacing.

4. Works closely with the Executive Director to ensure M & O work is being performed in a quality and timely manner.
5. Provides advisory assistance in regards to equipment and facility needs/conditions.
6. Supervises the training programs for the maintenance and grounds technicians for maximum productivity.
7. Inspects all schools on a regular basis to ensure a safe and desirable condition for learning.
8. Able to manage project-related activities and able to coordinate with contractors on minor M & O projects.
9. Assists in budget planning & maintaining M & O budget and participates in long range planning.
10. Researches, negotiates with suppliers and makes purchases.
11. Assists in planning for maintenance and renovation projects generated by district facilities.
12. Works closely with the Executive Director of Facilities to ensure projects are on time and are being completed according to specifications

set forth by PfISD.
13. Ensures that safety training is provided to staff and that proper safety practices are followed on all jobs by PfISD staff, our contractors and

sub-contractors.
14. Develops and maintains technical documentation related to assigned functions and responsibilities.
15. Communicates effectively (written and verbal) with the public, staff members, students, parents and administrators using tact and good

Judgment.
16. Performs other duties as assigned.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of supervisory techniques and principles.
  • Knowledge of established safety procedures and techniques.
  • Knowledge of minor repair techniques, building maintenance and grounds maintenance.
  • Knowledge of procedures such as design, construction terminology and quality control of materials used in the construction and

maintenance of buildings.

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Skill in communicating effectively with others.
  • Skill in working with computer tools including, but not limited to, email, internet, word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, guidelines and procedures.
  • Skill in working in a collaborative, team-based environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Supervises maintenance, grounds, plumbing, HVAC and electrical supervisors and staff.

Working Conditions (Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Demands):

Repetitive hand motions; exposure daily to possible adverse weather elements for extended periods of time; position
regularly requires work outside the regular work week; must be able to push, pull, lift, and/or carry at least 40 lbs.
