Department:

Residential Life, within the Division of Student Affairs, co-creates exceptional and innovative living learning environments for the campus community. Residential Life houses 4,000 students across 10 communities and one public-private partnership. Our communities range from traditional double rooms with semi-private bathrooms to suites and apartments for upper-class residents.



Position Overview:

The Assistant Director for Residential Education will contribute to the departmental mission by facilitating learning in the residence halls as an extension of the classroom, providing safe and comfortable facilities and environment for residents to live, implementing curricular and co-curricular experiences for resident students and providing leadership and work experience for students.

Telework:

A hybrid telework schedule may be available for Maryland residents.



Responsibilities:

The Assistant Director of Residential Education will be responsible for the overall supervision of multiple residential communities within the larger residential system.

Specific duties include:

  • Supervising full-time Community Directors;
  • Managing student conduct;
  • Overseeing educational programs and activities;
  • Coordinating recruitment and selection of student staff;
  • Serving as a liaison with other campus offices;
  • Working as part of the leadership team for Residential Education and Residential Life; and
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
Anticipated start date: January 2023

Required Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a Master's Degree in Student Personnel Services or a related field and at least three years of full-time, post Master's Degree residential life experience. Must have experience in managing student conduct and behavior. A solid foundation in human/student development theory and demonstrated ability to work with a multicultural student population using a culturally competent lens. Familiarity with computer systems and database software required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Living Learning Communities and residential curriculum is preferred.
