Job Description

Do you have a love for sports, recreation, and physical activities? The City of Lynn Haven certainly does and needs an experienced Assistant Director of Sports and Recreation to develop and promote sports and recreation in our area. The Assistant Director of Sports and Recreation requires an individual with strong administrative skills and experience to coordinate and oversee recreational and community services programs, activities, and operations within the Community Services-Sports and Recreation Department. The successful candidate will supervise an energetic team of sports and recreation enthusiasts, oversee the coordination of recreational sports leagues, and assist with the oversight of splash pads, gymnasiums, and sports complexes. This position works closely with other departments, divisions, and outside agencies; and assists with the promotion of healthy activities for the public to enjoy.

An ideal candidate has a strong supervisory/leadership background, at least four (4) years of experience promoting and coordinating sports and recreational programs, and a bachelor's degree with major course work in recreational management, business administration, public administration, physical education, exercise science, health education, or a related field. He or she must be a self-starter prepared to get to work with a positive attitude. A valid driver’s license is also required.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Work is performed in an office environment with frequent visits to assigned recreational areas and facilities. The position may require working outside of normal business hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays. First Aid Certification is required within six months of appointment. Other special licenses and certification may be required for specific assignments. All required licenses and certifications will be paid for by the City and must be maintained throughout the term of employment
