Job description
The Assistant Director of Student Affairs - Wellness Education works as part of the Division of Student Affairs and Counseling Services to provide leadership in the administration, education, evaluation, programming, and training for students about health promotion and wellness.
Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
- Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive well-being initiatives
- Plan, develop, market, implement and evaluate active and passive programming, prevention, and assessment of students on alcohol, drugs, mental health, and sexual health.
- Collaborate with colleagues on addressing health and mental health equity needs for a diverse population of students.
- Assist with the design and implementation of bystander intervention programs including the administration of Get Inclusive (our online training program).
- Serve as the primary resource on issues of health promotion and wellness.
- Collaborate with Student Affairs on student conduct mandated wellness sanctions.
- Advise and provide training and support to student peer educators
- Create and regularly update the Wellness website to best reflect current trends.
- Select, train, and advise student members of the Working on Wellness peer education group and graduate student wellness interns, which plans and implements campus wellness programs.
- Provide training, consultation, and support to staff and faculty on health and wellness student/campus needs.
- Participate in University-wide committees and programming/events such as Orientation, Commencement, and Open Houses.
- Maintain knowledge of related Title IX regulations and response protocol.
- Contribute to sustaining and enhancing an inclusive working and learning environment
Job Requirements:
Education & Experience
- Bachelors in related field required. MPH or MSW strongly preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience providing health promotion and wellness services/programming.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Comprehensive understanding, appreciation, and support of student life at a small, private institution and a commitment to improving the lives of students.
- Ability to work collaboratively with university support staff in supporting and serving students' health, emotional, developmental, and behavioral needs.

- Possess impeccable judgement, tolerance for ambiguity in diverse situations, ability to resolve student issues and crisis situations effectively, and commitment to the student affairs profession.

- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Able to function independently while operating effectively within a team environment
- Possess solid general computer skills, including ability to work in a Windows environment. Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Internet, and other programs as needed (e.g., mail merge, data base management). Familiarity with specific applications used by the University/Department a plus.
- Excellent oral and written skills and ability to communicate comfortably with students, colleagues, and external constituents
- Demonstrated ability to handle complex and multiple tasks in a professional and efficient manner
- Cultural competency to work with diverse student and employee population
- Exhibits a high level of professionalism, leadership, creative problem solving, diplomacy, negotiation and sales skills, and the ability to manage complex projects with minimal supervision
- Professional, courteous demeanor and appearance; ability to engage positively and work professionally with students, faculty, staff and administration and represent the University professionally to the public

Additional Information:
The anticipated salary for this position is $48,000 to $53,000 per year. The final offer will be based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
