Plamondon Hospitality Partners is looking for an Assistant General Manager to join the Springhill Suites by Marriott team located in Hagerstown, MD. The Assistant General Manager is responsible for assisting the General Manager in the successful oversight of all operations of the hotel property. Successful oversight includes but is not limited to guest satisfaction, human Resources, associate engagement and retention, financial performance, and sales and revenue generation.

Responsibilities

Operations
  • Verifies that all brand standards are being maintained in each area of the property.
  • Review and follow-up on hotel Guest Voice or related programs.
  • Provide timely communication of the progress and status of operations with the General Manager and Executive Vice President.
  • Manage the execution of capital improvements (e.g., renovations, refreshes, signage, etc.)
  • Participate in conference calls and keep current on Marriott brand and ownership initiatives.
  • Prepare schedules based on productivity and business need.
  • Interview potential applicants, perform reference checks, and extend job offers to maintain staffing levels.
  • Assist housekeeping manager to ensure guests rooms are prepared in a timely manner.
Leadership/Associate Development
  • Demonstrate ability to successfully enforce company policies and engage associates to achieve company goals.
  • Ensure the ongoing development of managers through weekly meetings and documentation.
  • Ensures annual associate performance appraisals are written, documented, and delivered in a timely fashion based on the associate’s date of hire.
  • Acts in the capacity of General Manager in his or her absence.
Financial Performance
  • Review P&L performance, cost controls, budgeting, revenue optimization, and yield management strategies in conjunction with Corporate Director of Revenue Management.
  • Ensure that a comprehensive sales, service, and marketing strategy is developed and executed in conjunction with Director of Sales.
  • Manage key account relationships with sales clients and vendors.
  • Ensure current and future financial growth through strategic financial management, including monitoring economic and environmental factors which impact hotel performance.
Safety and Security
  • Monitor hotel’s adherence to risk management guidelines including but not limited to human resources, workers’ compensation, and general liability insurance, in order to minimize incidents and legal exposure.
  • Follow company and department safety and security policies to ensure a clean, safe and secure environment for all guests and associates.
  • Follow property specific procedures for handling emergency situations (e.g., evacuations, medical emergencies, natural disasters).
Requirements

  • Associate degree preferred in Hospitality Management or related field; 3-5 years in the hospitality industry, minimum 2 years in a management position. Experience will be considered in place of degree.
  • Must prosses prior Fosse experience through Marriott Select Service Hotels.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and proven experience in leading a quality service driven team.
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures for associate recruitment, selection, training and development, compensation and benefits, and labor relations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and other similar software packages.
  • Ability to perform the physical aspects of the job including sitting, bending, climbing, standing, reaching and walking for up to 90% of the workday and lifting and carrying up to 60 lbs.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and proper insurance coverage for business related travel.
