The Criminal Justice Program at the University of Houston-Downtown seeks dynamic candidates to fill one (1) position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice.
Job Description:
- Teaches a 3/4 course load of undergraduate and graduate-level courses (three courses in one long semester and four courses in the other long semester
- Teaches policing courses
- Engages in meaningful applied research in the field of Criminal Justice
- Provides service to the department, university, college, community, and profession

The individual(s) selected will have:
- Earned a Ph.D. in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or Criminology, Law, and Society, or a related field by the time of the job offer (a Juris Doctorate alone will not suffice as a terminal degree for this position)
- An established higher education teaching record that includes policing courses
- Demonstrated ability to teach face-to-face and in an online format
- A clear and evolving research agenda that includes applied research in Criminal Justice (applied policing research is preferred)
- A strong interest in teaching existing courses as well as expanding the criminal justice course offerings of the department
- Demonstrated experience providing service to a university, college, or academic department
- Demonstrable experience and/or commitment to working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and members of underrepresented groups.
