Job Purpose

The Collections Associate Attorney acts as primary client contact for legal matters, oversight of legal processes, and to ensure compliance with applicable policies and procedures.

This position can be full-time - or part-time (approximately 30 hours weekly)

Duties and Responsibilities

• Create and maintain department procedures and policies
• Oversee and ensure compliance with the FDCPA,HIPAA, and state laws
• Update and improve account management functionality and automation
• Manage all third party vendors for legal process and oversee New York and New Jersey legal actions, settlement/resolutions of legal cases
• Handle all disputed accounts, work with other departments to resolve complex insurance coverage denials
• Coordinate strategies and discuss accounts with clients directly
• Manage legal clerk
• Train new employees on legal policy and procedures, organize case files, and streamline case management processes
• Perform extensive searches of FDCPA topics and recent New York Collections Law decisions

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate degree
• Admission to New York State Bar
• Minimum three plus years’ experience with debt collection and FDCPA laws
• Detail oriented and highly organized
• Managerial experience preferred

• Some travel to Court may be required

• Work Environment: The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.
