Associate Director, Athletics Compliance Officer
Job description
Responsibilities:
Responsible for managing and coordinating the University athletics' National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) compliance program. Assists in the strategic approach to monitoring, educating, reviewing and reporting as it relates to NCAA, ASC Conference, and institutional rules and regulations. Responsible for assisting in the creation and management of initiatives that promote institutional and departmental culture of integrity and compliance as it relates to intercollegiate athletics. Responsibilities also include the supervision of internship/graduate assistant program, assessing compliance risks, review of certification of eligibility, maintenance of rules education plan, coordinate operating functions of NCAA Bylaws with direct reports, filing NCAA and ASC Conference waivers, and assist in the reporting of violations.
Minimum Requirements:
1. A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Sports Management, Sport Administration, or closely-related academic field. Master's degree is preferred.
2. A minimum of three (3) years' experience in head coaching or athletic administrative experience in intercollegiate athletics. Five (5) years' experience is preferred.
3. A demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, compliance, training, and supervising, preferably at the NCAA Division III level.
4. Strong budget management experience and skills.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
6. Knowledge in common athletics compliance software and Apps (e.g., CA, LSDBi, RSRO, Transfer Portal).
7. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
8. Ability to accumulate, organize, decipher, and interpret NCAA DIII bylaws and policies.
9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office for Windows applications (word processing, database, spreadsheet, e-mail, presentation graphics, etc.) is required.
10. Proficiency in general office equipment operation is required.
11. Must possess exceptional time management and detail-orientation skills.
12. Must possess a current and valid Texas driver's license and be insurable under UMHB auto coverage.
