Job Description


PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Under the direction of the Director of Health Care Standards, the assistant, supports, organizes, and evaluates the service/ education and other related patient care services pertinent to the Emergency Department.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Formulates and develops methods and procedures for monitoring and evaluating implementation and maintenance of health care standards to assure the attainment of quality care and to meet mandated legislative and administrative standards.
  • Monitors and coordinates the review processes of assigned programs for healthcare standards and service programs to determine if programs are meeting the healthcare needs, objectives and goals of policies and procedural guidelines.
  • Develops operating policies for adherence to broad policies and objectives of Utilization Review Programs and Professional Standards Review Organizations.
  • Supports the overall administrative, operational and fiscal responsibility for the department.
  • Assists Director to develop strategic plans, prepares and manage the departmental budget in collaboration with the CFO, nursing leadership and Chief of Service.
  • Supports in the monitoring and authorization of service expenditures for equipment and supplies in collaboration with the CFO, nursing leadership, and Chief of Service.
  • Supports in monitoring the environmental needs of the emergency department to ensure all issues are addressed/ replaced/ or repaired timely.
  • Participates in the development, implementation, and maintenance of departmental policies and procedures.
  • Assists to ensure departmental regulatory compliance.
  • Supports overall Emergency Department operations (i.e. demographics, capturing and verifying the financial insurances, PCP, co-pay collections, full completion of forms/ consents, accounting of all patient restrictions, patient/ family navigation.

Minimum Qualifications


1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university in Health Administration, Public Administration or approved related program; and,

2. Six years of full-time, paid experience of progressively responsible level in hospital administration with particular emphasis on development and evaluation of health care delivery services; or,

3. A Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Hospital or Health Administration, Health Care Planning, Public Health, Administrative Medicine, Business Administration, Public Administration or approved related program; and,

4. Five years of full-time, paid experience as indicated in (2); or,

5. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
