JOB DESCRIPTION
- FULL TIME

The Associate Director of New Student Relations is responsible for assisting with the strategic planning and implementation of recruitment related initiatives for the purpose of growing overall enrollment. They are also responsible for the training and professional development of New Student Relations team members with emphasis on recruitment practices, presentations, road etiquette, visual setup, systems and software for managing territories and admissions/financial aid counseling. The Associate Director may also travel as needed, and hold a territory for the purpose of training and recruiting.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Macro Planning: brainstorm, strategize, and troubleshoot the ongoing strategic planning and execution of initiatives focused on gaining new business for the University with the Director of New Student Relations
  • Closely monitor the overall admissions funnel and pipeline for special programs and segmented populations, identifying areas of enrollment growth
  • Recruitment Travel: manage and strategize travel opportunities and potential new markets for ways to reach prospective students
  • Develops, rates, and pioneers contacts for domestic growth
  • Independently research and gather information from various resources with regard to where certain events are being held in order that the university might have a presence
  • Gather previous years' data to assess which methods worked best, which trends are better and which functions produced the most results
  • Micro Planning: responsible to strategize and goal set daily new business opportunities to gain new interest for the university, and to communicate the daily plan of recruitment focuses to team members
  • Process and track daily/weekly/monthly enrollment deposit progress
  • Annual Planning: assist with overall strategic planning, training, implementation and management of the annual recruitment lifecycle
  • Hiring and Day to Day Operations: assist with hiring and ongoing training of team members, provide feedback on the progress and reliability of team members and student workers
  • Assist with the responsibility of quality control and customer service issues in the Welcome Center
  • Work to proactively resolve any issue inside or outside of the department that impacts good customer service with prospective students or their families
  • ORU Departments: Serves as key liaison with various departments within the university and outside entities to develop and maintain relationships with academic deans, chairs, and secretaries
  • Finances/Negotiations: Serve as the primary closer for negotiating families, and manage the additional aid request process
  • Work with Director of New Student Relations on vetting drop requests, ensuring that all possible avenues have been explored to keep a student active in the admissions funnel
  • Events: must attend and work all on-campus recruiting events for the purpose of generating new business
  • Director/VP Help: represents the Director, as needed, for meetings, tours, speaking engagements, etc. as requested
  • Assists Director with other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in a related field required. (ORU graduate preferred.) Master's degree is a plus.

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT(S):

Must possess a valid Oklahoma driver’s license and have an excellent driving record for the purpose of driving university leased vehicles.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three (3) years of related work experience in a recruitment focused work setting is required with proven ability to deliver results. Experience in Enrollment Management preferred.

SKILLS: Must be computer literate to include: Word, Excel and Power Point. ORU utilizes Banner and related software (BRM/PSP/Banner Self-Serve). Prior knowledge is preferred.

  • Must have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and be able to articulate information well, both verbally and in written form
  • Must have an eye for detail due to the need for accurate record keeping/recording of information that is personal, monetary, and time-sensitive related
  • Must be self-motivated and able to prioritize projects.
  • Must have the ability to exercise discretionary judgment.
  • Must maintain a high level of confidentiality of information.
  • Excellent problem solving skills, leadership and time management skills are a must.
  • Must have the ability to work both as a team member and independently; use sound judgment regarding organizational and departmental regulations, procedures, and policies; quickly establish and maintain rapport with students, faculty, alumni, administration, and parents from varying cultural backgrounds.
  • Must remain flexible with regard to external factors that may affect the work schedule.
  • Must be available and willing to work extended hours to include some evening and weekend hours.
