Summary: Assists in the management of the athletics compliance area of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Through program development, implementation and monitoring, ensures compliance with University, Conference and NCAA regulations while also safeguarding the integrity and reputation of UH Athletics and the University of Houston.

  • Serves as an NCAA compliance authority for the Department; alongside senior compliance officers, develops, implements, and oversees programs to ensure compliance with all University, Conference and NCAA rules and regulations governing the intercollegiate athletics operations, with a primary focus on monitoring of recruiting activities.
  • In conjunction with Associate AD, regularly review and update compliance policies and procedures to ensure UH Athletics best practices are and remain aligned with NCAA legislative updates, industry expectations, and university standards.
  • Assists with the Office of Athletics Compliance's internship program. Help to develop the scope of work profile for each intern position, sources and onboards credible candidates and monitors work product to ensure Department compliance.
  • Ensures recruiting activities of coaching staff and visits provided by the institution to prospective student athletes are in compliance with NCAA regulations.
  • Assists with other responsibilities of NCAA Bylaws including personnel, amateurism, playing and practice seasons, and awards and benefits.
  • Compiles and reports information for annual conference and NCAA reporting requirements.
  • Coordinates and conducts rules education efforts for coaches, student-athletes, athletic department staff members and boosters.
  • Serves as spokesperson/ambassador for the Athletics Department and the University of Houston. At all times and in all settings represent the Department and University in a way that positively reflects and grows affinity for all things UH.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Bachelors and 3 years experience

Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4-year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly jo-related experience.
