Auto Body Technician

Reports to: Department Manager

Location: Auburn, NY

Full Time: Monday – Friday 7 am – 3 pm, or 8:30 am – 5 pm

Non-Exempt: $20 - $22 an hour based on experience

Auto Body Technician

We are looking for a proactive employee to provide customer service and support to our internal and external customers. Some responsibilities are:

  • Painting and restoration of vehicles and small boats
  • Reviews paperwork for accuracy
  • Gathering supplies for job completion
  • Troubleshooting and problem solving
  • Applying basic math skills to ensure products being produced meets customer expectations
  • Performing preventative maintenance on machinery and tools used
  • Working with potentially hazardous materials while maintaining safety and personal protection
  • Document the materials used in the process to maintain traceability
  • Management of the collection, disposal, and storage of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes
  • Setting up, operating, and maintaining painting and blasting equipment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Two years of experience with industrial painting and auto body work is required. One year certification from college or technical school is preferred. A High school diploma or GED is preferred. Experience in coatings application and prep work is preferred.

Must follow directions carefully and have strong attention to detail while multitasking. Must have a strong sense of teamwork and accountability. Must be able to use a computer, be proficient in Excel, and have basic word processing and e-mail skills. We require applicants to understand basic math and use copiers, postage meters, pallet jacks, and hand tools. It is required that you can regularly stand, walk, crouch, bend, or kneel; use the repetitive motion of hands or wrists; finger, grasp, handle or feel; reach with arms and hands.

Conditions of Employment

Must be able to lift 75 pounds.
