The Baader Technician is responsible for safe and efficient operation and maintenance of fish processing equipment and machinery on production line as directed by the Factory Supervisor. Trains and supervises all Baader Assistants. Reports to Chief Engineer and Lead Baader Tech for mechanical and maintenance issues and reports to Factory Manager for production/quality issues.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensures adequate inventory at all times by tracking the supply of machine replacement parts and placing orders as necessary.
  • Follows purchasing guidelines to ensure efficiency and minimize last minute orders.
  • Repairs and maintains Baader electrical systems, including chain drives, bearings, belt drives, back guides, and bone guides.
  • Trains Baader machine operators in safe and efficient procedures
  • Determines appropriate machine adjustments by working closely with Factory Supervisor and QA
  • Completes product recovery tests as necessary making machine adjustments to ensure desired yield ratios and quality
  • Completes related maintenance documentation which may include machine log books, work orders, test reports, parts inventories and parts orders
  • Ensures only Original Engineered Manufacturers parts to be used on fish processing machinery. Any custom parts must have prior approval from Technical Manager.
  • Trains Baader Assistants on proper maintenance and repair procedures
  • Upholds and enforces vessel and company safety policies to include all related regulatory requirements (USCG and OSHA) as pertains to Baader equipment
  • Ensures compliance with applicable sections of the Safety Management System. Is knowledgeable and conversant on applicable policies and procedures contained in the SMS.
  • Performs emergency duties as identified on Station Bill.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ year of experience as a Baader Technician on a vessel or n shore based plant with Baader equipment.
  • 1+ year of experience directing and training a crew.
  • 2-3 years’ experience operating machinery in an industrial or manufacturing setting.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of Baader equipment, machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and techniques for maximizing the effective recovery and quality of product.
  • Proficient computer skills including MS Suite.
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages.
  • Able to communicate effective in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • A self-starter who is motivated and able to meet operation deadlines.
  • Able to lead and direct the work of others.
  • Ability to effectively troubleshoot equipment or process failures and apply solutions.
