Temple Beth-El seeks Bar/Bat Mitzvah tutors for the coming year.

The ideal candidates will be:

• Proficient in Torah and Haftarah trope, as well as the practice of chanting Torah and Haftarah.
• Knowledgeable about the traditional Hebrew Shabbat evening and morning liturgy using common Conservative congregational melodies.
• Willing and able to work with multiple students over the course of the year.
• Able to connect with learners of different learning styles and abilities.
• Dedicated to engaging children and encouraging their love for Judaism.

Prior experience with tutoring is a plus. Willingness to take on multiple students over the course of the year preferred.

Tutoring sessions typically last for 30 minutes per week, for approximately 10 months leading up to the student’s Bar/Bat Mitzvah. These sessions can be done in-person and/or via Zoom, and usually occur on weekday and/or Sunday afternoons. Exact schedule can be coordinated directly with each family. You will also be expected to attend your students' B’nai Mitzvah to provide support/encouragement, as well as the final rehearsal (usually a week or two before the ceremony).

Compensation starts at $25/hour, depending on experience.
