POSITION SUMMARY
We are looking for an observant, efficient Barback who can work with other staff members to ensure that our customers receive prompt, seamless service. The Barback will assist in cleaning the bar, preparing garnishes, ensuring the bar is well stocked with napkins, straws, glassware, garnishes, and all other necessities, and taking on other duties to support the Bartender and ensure that the bar operates smoothly. You should be knowledgeable about menu items, attentive, and focused on providing the best possible service in a fast-paced environment. To be a successful Barback, you should be passionate about working as part of a team to deliver excellent drinks and service to customers. You should be efficient, reliable, and perceptive with excellent communication and time management skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & FUNCTIONS

• Assisting with duties such as restocking the bar with garnishes, straws, and napkins, ensuring that Bartenders have clean towels, glassware, etc.
• Ensure bar is well-stocked with ice, liquor, wine, and beer.
• Check taps and appliances to confirm that they are working properly, make minor repairs, or change out kegs, if needed.
• Maintaining cleanliness of the bar by wiping down surfaces, sweeping and mopping, removing soiled glassware, scrubbing coolers and storage areas, and emptying trash receptacles.
• Stay up to date with our menu items, beer offerings, and memorize cocktail recipes.
• Take orders, prepare drinks, buss tables, open tabs, and process payments, especially during peak hours.
• Communicate with customers, answer questions, manage complaints.
• Maintain inventory records and report levels of usage to assist in the reordering process and ensure that delivered items are stored properly.
• Wash and sterilize glassware and maintain bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner to support efficient drink preparation and promotion of beverages.
• Report all equipment problems and bar maintenance issues to Assistant General Manager/MOD.

DESIRED CAPABILITIES/CHARACTERISTICS

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Courteous, friendly personality and professional appearance.
• Knowledge of menu items, including beers, wines, cocktails, and liquors.
• Basic math and computer skills.
• Strong problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills, ability to handle tense situations with coworkers and customers calmly and rationally.
• Observant and detail-oriented.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS

• Reports directly to Assistant General Manager and Food & Beverage General Manager.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Requires moderate physical efforts. Standing, carrying, bending, stretching, stooping, pulling, and pushing, lifting of weights up to 30 pounds.

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS

• May be required to work additional hours as dictated by workload and staffing.
• Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
