About our company:

First Children Services grew out of the First Children School in Fanwood, NJ.

Joseph J. Hess, Jr, its president and owner since 2009, recognized the opportunity to begin providing educational, therapeutic and behavioral health services to children in the most natural settings possible. This may be at home, in the local school district, early intervention programs, hospitals, private schools and residential treatment facilities.

First Children operates an approved private school serving children in grades PreK-high school in Fanwood, NJ, which was established in 1978 by Children’s Specialized Hospital and acquired by First Children in 2009. In addition, the organization operates a child care program at its site in Fanwood serving children from infancy through pre-kindergarten, a unique program that serves both children with and without challenges.

About the job:

First Children Services is actively recruiting Behavior Technicians/Registered Behavior Technicians that are interested in working both full time and part time hours. Hours range from 8a-8p. Providing behavioral health services across the entire state of NJ and PA, opportunities are immediately available within public school districts, clinics, and homes.

The Behavior Technician Will

• Build a rapport with the child.
• Work with children and family on the goals designed by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
• Teach socially significant skills
• Manage behaviors
• Collect data and document sessions through our electronic data system

Requirements

• Current RBT certification or willingness to complete a 40-hour RBT training course and ability/commitment to pass the RBT certification within 30 days of hire.
• Willingness to participate and maintain an active Safety Care Certification.
• Active CPR/FA Certification or willingness to participate in training.
• Genuine interest in working with children with autism and behavioral concerns.
• Patience, problem-solving skills, discretion and ability to think on your feet.
• Ability to work well with others and be an effective part of a treatment team.
• Ability to work independently.
• Strong interpersonal and writing skills.
• Flexible work schedule (minimum 6 hours per week, max 40 hours per week)
• Access to reliable transportation; valid driver's license, willingness to travel (between 30-40 min preferred).
• Bachelor's degree in psychology, special education, guidance and counseling, social work, or a related field preferred.

Required Experience

• At least one year experience working with children is required.
• One year of supervised experience in implementing positive behavior support plans and teaching daily living skills for individuals who have intellectual/developmental disabilities preferred.

Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
