WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Behavioral Health Technician will be working in EPIC’s the 26-bed inpatient detoxification and residential treatment department for EPIC Behavioral Healthcare in St. Augustine, FL. Behavioral Health Technicians are an essential patient support position that ensures a safe and therapeutic environment for our patients.


This is a full-time position at 40 hours weekly, working 5 days per week from 7 am – 3:30 pm, requires working every other weekend and includes the following responsibilities:

  • Monitors the activities and behavior of patients on the unit
  • Processes admissions and discharges under the guidance of the nursing staff
  • Orients new patients to the program and facility
  • Checks and records vital signs as directed by the nursing staff
  • Conducts a patient educational group per shift
  • Completes required patient care documentation in the Electronic Health Record
  • Completes 15-minute checks on all patients throughout assigned shift
  • Transports patients to medical appointments, community assistance agencies, recreational and community activities, and AA/NA and other self-help meetings
  • Encourages each patient’s achievement of treatment goals
  • Performs general clerical office duties

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum one years’ experience in substance use and/or mental health setting.
  • Current valid driver’s license in the State of Florida
  • Level 2 background screen and a negative drug screen
  • Professional References
