Position Summary:

The Billing Manager is primarily responsible for the effective hands-on coordination and management of the billing and payment cycle workflow. The Billing Manager is responsible for overseeing the accurate and efficient preparation of bills and invoices for Billing Attorneys.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensures accurate observance of billing and e-billing requirements and processes
  • Prepares ad-hoc billing reports for internal and external clients
  • Ensures timely invoice submission to clients, based on established timelines
  • Creates and distributes ad hoc operational and billing reports to management as requested
  • Works with Revenue Management Department to identify, review and recommend changes to automate or enhance timeliness, accuracy, and efficiency of billing processes
  • Supports internal and external auditors as requested
  • Supervises billing staff, recommends any necessary training/changes
  • Provides feedback during the staff performance appraisals, develops performance management objectives to address concerns, drives engagement and retention; participates in team hiring and separation decisions
  • Delegate’s assignments and projects to staff as appropriate

Skills & Competencies:
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), professional demeanor and presentation
  • Demonstrated ability to work well, be influential and communicate effectively with senior leadership and staff, including presenting ideas in a clear, succinct manner
  • High attention to detail to ensure accuracy of information, outstanding organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively
  • Analytical with strong problem-solving skills, takes initiative and uses good judgment, excellent follow-up skills
  • Position also requires the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment, effectively prioritize multiple tasks

Qualifications & Prior Experience:
  • B.A. in accounting or finance or equivalent accounting experience preferred
  • 5+ years of legal billing/receivables experience and in-depth knowledge of accounting principles and billing software
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience in similar role
  • Advanced experience in e-billing, Windows-based software and Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Access

The annualized salary range for this position is $105,000 to $125,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, health insurance with an optional HSA, short term disability, long term disability, dental insurance, vision care, life insurance, Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, 401K, vacation, sick time, and an employee assistance program.
