Description:
The Corces Lab at the Gladstone Institutes (www.CorcesLab.com) is looking for a bioinformatician to support ongoing work at the intersection of genetics, epigenetics, and gene regulation. Flexible remote-work options are available for this position. You will be providing analytical support to a variety of projects in the lab, including multiple large-scale genomic profiling studies aimed at understanding the epigenetic and genetic contributors to Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. You will be working with a variety of data types generated by various platforms and technologies (e.g., genome sequencing, single-cell RNA-seq, single-cell ATAC-seq, HiC, massively parallel reporter assays, CRISPR screens, and others). As such, the ideal candidate will be individually motivated and comfortable multitasking on different analytical projects. Additionally, the lab has built and maintains a software suite called ArchR (www.ArchRProject.com
) which is widely used for the analysis of single-cell ATAC-seq and multi-omic datasets. An interest in helping to maintain and further develop this software would be ideal.
Qualifications:
MS and 2+ years of directly relevant experience in Bioinformatics or a similar quantitative field. Candidates must have demonstrated experience in the analysis of sequence data and large biological datasets and an interest in genomics. Candidates must be fluent in R, Python, and Bash, and skilled with pipelining workflow managers such as Snakemake. Specific experience handling single-cell datasets is a plus as is prior experience in academia or industry supporting genomics research. In addition to your analytical responsibilities, you are expected to become a central member of the lab, participating in laboratory meetings etc. and providing training to new lab members is various analytical methodologies. The successful candidate will have a strong background in data analysis, analytical pipelines, statistics, and be able to communicate and work effectively with all types and background levels of collaborators.
Daily responsibilities include:
1) Developing robust pipelines to support analytical workflows in the lab
2) Analyzing ‘omics datasets generated in the lab and by collaborators
3) Improving shared codebases and analytical organization within the lab
4) Helping to maintain and develop open-source software for the analysis of single-cell data (in R).
5) Participation in regular lab meetings, journal clubs and activities
Hiring range:
$87,000 - $102,362
