The BIOMED TECH serves as a technical advisor to the medical and clinical staff in the safe operation and proper use of clinical equipment. This individual is responsible for the safety, performance and calibration of clinical and technical equipment involved in patient care. The BIOMED TECH demonstrates adherence to the hospital core values in all professional interactions and shows respect to all people, creating real value, initiating meaningful change, and exhibiting integrity. The Biomedical Equipment Tech installs, inspects, troubleshoots, repairs, calibrates and verifies performance of most classes of clinical equipment.
Requirements: Associates degree in biomedical equipment technology or electronics or equivalent military training and experience required. Must have three (3+) progressive years in clinical equipment services . Certification by the International Certification Commission preferred. Extensive knowledge of electronics, including solid state linear and digital integrated circuit operation. Working knowledge of the latest and most advanced troubleshooting, calibration, and repair techniques. Working knowledge of the operation, the underlying physiological principles, and the practical and safe clinical application of patient-care equipment.
This position is represented by SEIU-UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective agreement.

Qualifications
  • Must have a minimum of 2 progressive years in clinical equipment services.
  • Extensive knowledge of electronics, including solid state, linear and digital integrated circuit operation required. Working knowledge of the latest and most advanced troubleshooting, calibration, and repair techniques. Working knowledge of the operation, the underlying physiological principles, and the practical and safe clinical application of patient-care equipment.
  • Certification by the International Certification Commission preferred.
  • Microsoft Office, PDA and equipment diagnostic applications.
  • Must maintain current Fire Safety cards.
