The Fort Worth Star-Telegram is expanding our newsroom. We're seeking aggressive journalists who can deliver exclusive breaking news reporting that informs and engages readers. The breaking news reporters will be expected to move fast when news breaks and to produce deeper follow-up stories that make a difference in the lives of our readers. Serving readers in a crowded media marketplace means becoming the best and most relevant source of journalism that matters to them - and ensuring that our work reaches them, wherever they are.

You’ll work with an experienced, committed editing team in a newsroom that serves the fourth-largest market in the nation. The Star-Telegram has served Fort Worth and Tarrant County for more than 100 years.

Dallas-Fort Worth is home to high-profile professional sports teams such as the Cowboys, Rangers and Mavericks and TCU, the nation’s third-ranked college football team. The area offers world-class museums, vibrant music and arts scenes, a lively downtown and several colleges and universities.

Fort Worth is one of the fastest growing cities in the country and is the 13th largest city in the United States. Its population is diverse, with about 35% of the population Hispanic or Latino, over 18% Black and about 5% Asian, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Our reporters must have a demonstrated commitment to fairness and accuracy, in fact and in tone, and a strong grounding in journalism ethics. Minimum requirements:

• College degree and 3-5 years prior experience preferred
• Strong writing and reporting skills and excellent news judgment
• Unwavering commitment to accurate, ethical journalism
• Demonstrated ability to work comfortably in a job that will be fast-paced, data-driven, shaped constantly by feedback and experimentation and always evolving.
• Must have reliable transportation. Must have valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance required (at least minimum insurance required for the state in which the employee works).
