Would you like to build or strengthen your connection to the Rondo Community? Hallie Q. Brown Community Center is seeking a full time Building Custodian to maintain our multi-service center. The hours for this position can be set between 7:00am to 8:00pm on a set schedule, with a majority of evening and weekend hours with occasional daytime hours depending upon organizational events.

We are looking for one full-time person and one part-time person to fill the Custodian role.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains the organizations facilities to ensure cleanliness and orderliness.
  • Sweeps, mops, empties trash and recycling daily.
  • Completes maintenance tasks or repairs of the building.
  • Assists with moving office furniture on occasion.
  • Maintains daily communication with Supervisor and/or other designated staff regarding scheduling problems, participant issues, unusual occurrences, and building maintenance.
  • Fills in for other facilities team members, as needed, which may include some evenings and weekends.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • At least 2 years doing maintenance, cleaning or repairs of commercial buildings.
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred, or equivalent experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • A commitment to the mission of Hallie Q. Brown Community Center.
  • Knowledge and experience working with culturally and racially diverse populations in lower socio-economic conditions.
  • Ability to communicate and manage time effectively, and work independently with limited supervision.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., bend, twist, stand and walk for more than 4 hours per day.

Licenses and/or Certifications:

  • Must have completed COVID-19 vaccination and/or will have completed the vaccine before starting; Hallie Q. Brown can provide vaccination resources if needed.
  • Valid MN Drivers’ License, clean driving record, ability to maintain a clean driving record and meet the agency's driving requirements.
