Job description

PURPOSE

To provide custodial and maintenance services that facilitate the work and ministry of the church, its pastors, staff, committees, and organizations, as assigned.

The health, safety, and well-being of our employees, congregation, and visitors have always been of paramount importance at KPC, however, living and worshipping during a pandemic has only strengthened our commitment to providing a safe place for work and worship every day. Our maintenance / custodian will play a critical role in helping to deliver a clean and sanitized church campus.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provide cleaning and disinfecting services throughout all areas of the church campus. Specifically, wiping down and disinfecting all HIGH TOUCH public areas everyday ensuring soap and disinfecting dispensers are filled and properly working.

2. Provide preparation of the facilities, including set up and breakdown and clean up, for church activities.

3. Provide security and safety, ensuring exit lights, emergency lights, etc. are in working order for personal safety and code inspections.

4. Provide general repairs and enhancements as needed to include minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, carpet cleaning, tile floor stripping and waxing. Report repair work which require outside vendors.

5. Maintain storage areas and equipment.

6. Prepare exterior of buildings for Sunday worship services and other church events.

7. Order and maintain inventory of all custodial, electrical, lighting, and plumbing supplies.

8. Provide assistance to the church lay-leaders for all church-sponsored activities.

9. Have first opportunity to provide custodial services for weddings and special events or outside activities (non-church sponsored meetings and events) that are compensated by outside parties.

10. Perform any other tasks deemed necessary by the church secretary and/or Pastor.

QUALIFICATIONS

Personal: Display a professional presence and poise; enjoy working as a team member; possess effective people skills. Be able to manage confidential information. Be physically able to perform work needed. While there will be recurring tasks and responsibilities, a self-starter who can identify and fix a need or problem on their own will also be important.

Knowledge/competencies: An ability to prioritize work schedule based on church calendar. Have basic skills in proper cleaning and disinfecting techniques. Have basic skills in plumbing, carpentry, electrical maintenance, and an ability to discern and make minor repairs as needed.
