JOB LOCATION: YMCA-Arvada will be the home base but driver will cover North and South end of town
HOURS/DAYS SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 2-6p this is a part time role
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction and supervision of the Manager, the Bus Driver will provide safe transportation to and from program sites while maintaining a supportive and positive atmosphere. Bus Drivers are responsible for conducting themselves in an appropriate manner, setting an example for children, parents and co-workers by reflecting the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for following and obeying YMCA policies and procedures and all local, state, and federal traffic laws.
- Responsible for the upkeep cleanliness, and maintenance of the vehicles. Completes thorough before-and-after trip checks each day and record all information. Cleans out bus each day.
- Records gas level, vehicle inspections, mileage, maintenance, and accidents daily and on designated forms.
- Takes attendance and ensures all passengers are accounted for prior to and after each trip.
- Promotes safety at all times. Responsible for the safety & well-being at all times of all passengers.
- Keeps first aid supplies fully stocked.
- Ensures that bus rules are announced and followed.
- Utilizes vehicles for YMCA use only.
- Develops friendly and positive relationships among staff, volunteers, parents, and children.
- Communicates regularly with other staff members and supervisor.
- Follow and enforce all YMCA procedures and policies, including; personnel guidelines, safety guidelines, facility access procedures and membership policies. Carry out emergency plans as necessary.
- Be dressed in appropriate attire and wear nametag at all times.
- Attend and remain current on all mandatory trainings and staff meetings.
- Any other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to safely drive a bus for short/long periods of time.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations.
- Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use of hands and fingers handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reaches with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and hear.
- The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds and regularly lift and or move 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, peripheral and depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet conditions and outdoor weather conditions. The noise level is moderate to loud.
INTERPERSONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform and provide excellent customer service skills by exceeding member and program participant expectations.
- Consistently greet every person who enters the bus and recognize all members and guests when they leave.
- Engage in active listening with members and program participants in order to build relationships, understand individuals goals and interests, and take the initiative to ensure the member has a positive experience.
- Provide accurate information about membership and programs.
- Be familiar with the mission statement and core values of the YMCA. Model the core values while working and communicating with other staff members.
- Always have a friendly, helpful attitude and wear a smile.
- Actively listen, reflect and respond to customer questions and concerns in a caring manner. When the opportunity presents itself, go above and beyond to resolve the situation immediately.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Possess appropriate Colorado class license or able to attain upon hiring.
- Possess current CPR and First Aid certifications or attain within 30 days of hiring
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Must have and maintain a qualifying motor vehicle record (MVR).
- Knowledge of the rules/guidelines related to commercial passenger vehicles (bus).
- Desire and ability to work with children.
